Ranger I
City of Boulder

We have a vacant Ranger I position that is now posted and will be open until Tuesday, May 5th. This is a POST certified position. We do send the candidate to Police Academy if they aren’t POST certified.

Would you enjoy going for hikes, bike patrolling, rescues on Eldorado Trail, helping BPD with a missing endangered juvenile, closing down roads for cattle drives, issuing summons for smoking on OSMP, coordinating World Ranger Day, preparing for an educational program, calls involving snakes, taking a report of property damage at Wonderland Lake, another rescue on the Fern Canyon Trail, etc.? These are things Rangers have been working on in the past 2 days! Being a Ranger is a lot of training and hard work, but completely worth it. We get to help people and protect OSMP lands; all while having a lot of fun and being part of a great team.

Park Ranger Supervisor
The City of Aurora
Hiring Range: $64,669 - $80,836/year.

The City of Aurora is excited to announce an opening for an experienced and qualified professional to join our team as a Park Ranger Supervisor! The successful candidate will have the amazing opportunity to provide leadership of both our teams focused on Reservoirs and Open Space, Trails and Urban Parks. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position requires availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The City of Aurora’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department oversees more than 8,000 acres of open space, 100+ developed parks, over 100 miles of trails, and two water supply reservoirs—Aurora and Quincy. Our park rangers play a critical role in ensuring these spaces remain safe, clean, and accessible for all who visit. As a Park Ranger Supervisor, you’ll lead a dedicated team in delivering exceptional public service, focusing on public safety, rule enforcement, natural resource stewardship, and interpretive outreach. You will also assist in the hiring, management, and coordination of both full-time and seasonal staff, including Park Rangers, Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspectors, and Lifeguards.

Reservoir Ranger Positions
The City of Aurora

The City of Aurora is currently hiring for (2) Reservoir Ranger and one Variable Hour Benefited Reservoir Ranger. The Reservoir Ranger position is currently posted. This is a 40-hour/week position with a temporary status to end on October 31st. The Variable hour position is also 40-hours/week but will be year-round. This will be posted soon!

Both of these positions will work out of Quincy and Aurora Reservoirs.

You will need at least 1 year of experience in customer service, security, natural resources, recreation, wildlife, emergency medical or criminal justice.

Senior Watershed Ranger for Button Rock Preserve
The City of Longmont

The primary duty location and focus of this position is a watershed ranger supervisor for Button Rock Preserve so knowledge of watershed management and dam operations is required. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position are to manage the City of Longmont's raw water source facilities as well as manage public recreation and enforce municipal regulations.

Button Rock Preserve is located in a quiet river valley about 7 miles west of Lyons. Within this walk-in only preserve you will find Longmont and Ralph Price Reservoirs along the North St. Vrain Creek. Longmont manages this natural watershed and reservoirs to preserve the resource and provide storage for the City’s water utility.

City of Longmont Rangers support public outreach and education, municipal code enforcement, emergency response, homelessness outreach, and natural resource protection on Longmont’s Public Lands system. Rangers provide support to multiple City divisions including Police Services, Fire Services, Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS), and Water Resources. Rangers contribute parks law enforcement and resource protection expertise to division projects, respond to compliance and safety issues on Parks, Open Space, and utility properties, and support public engagement, volunteer projects, and naturalist interpretive programming. Rangers also act as park and natural resource managers for specific City properties including Union Reservoir Nature Area and Button Rock Preserve.

As limited scope peace officers designated by the City Manager, Rangers address violations of municipal code, conduct investigations, issue warnings and summonses, and support parks law enforcement. Rangers are also trained as wildland firefighters, open water rescuers, or emergency medical responders to support emergency response on City land and reservoirs. Rangers act as liaisons with non-profit organizations engaged in regional conservation work and neighboring land management agencies, including Boulder County Parks & Open Space, US Forest Service, and Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

Temporary Statewide Boat Patrol Limited Commission Ranger
Colorado Parks and Wildlife

This patrol team travels across the state to lakes and reservoirs that typically lack regular enforcement, helping to educate the boating public on safe boating practices.  Previous boating and ranger experience is desired, but not required.  This position is based in Littleton, CO. Applicants must be able to travel away from home a minimum of 3 days at a time, work weekends and holidays, and possess strong self-management skills.  Season length will depend on the boating season and water conditions.
